Cycle Terminal
Motorcycle Open Barrel Crimp Tools, Wire Stripers, and Extraction Removal Tool for
Molex, Amp,Yazaki, Sumitomo, Amphenol - Deutsch, JAE terminals, By Pressmaster, Eclipse,
Lisle, Channellock, Amphenol, Delphi.
Open Barrel Terminal Crimps are a very effective means to secure the wire to the
terminal, usually outlasting everything else on the Motorcycle, A wire crimp is just
fine by itself, but in some cases you may want to add a spot of solder to the conductor
crimp. Or if you are pinching the terminal with a pair of pliers or needle nose,
you will definitely want to solder. Take a look at the bottom of the page. These
are both nice Quality crimp tools for the budget minded, or novice. Personally I
have about six different crimp tools that I use, and a couple of them cost well over
$300.00 for the tool Frame, The dies are an additional cost.
Practice will help you become proficient with any new crimp tool, and it will be
necessary for a good crimp.
Economy - Open Barrel Crimp Tool

This tool does the wire crimp, then the insulation crimps in 2 steps.
If your not doing this type of crimping all the time, great tool to add to your box,
and you cant beat the price. Pick up a few extra terminals to practice with.
These will not do the insulation crimp on the 110, 250 standard terminals

If you are Soldering your Open barrel Terminal Crimps, Here are some tips!!
It’s not hard to do, just takes some practice and patience.
So pick up extra terminals to practice with, Or use poor crimps that you have replaced.
Like I did here.
I solder most of my lighting, battery cable, and high current relay and ground connections.
I use a 60 watt soldering iron, (60 - 70 Watt iron is perfect) gotta get the heat
on there quick and get it done before you overheat the terminal, wire or melt the
insulation.
Keep the heat where you want the solder to run at the terminal end of the wire, you
don't want the solder to wick up the wire under the insulation!!
Just need a tiny bit of solder, don't want blobs of it all over the terminal or wire.
(like the picture on the bottom left)
The 3 Terminals on the right are perfect, 60/40 rosin core solder. I personally use
.8 mm, and 1 mm solder.
Anymore questions please feel free to email me!!!
Current flow for wire length and thickness quick reference chart .
Strand count plays a roll in this as well which is not taken into consideration on
this Chart.
The higher the strand count the More current the wire can pass.
As you can see 16 AWG is more than enough for most wiring needs, it is used on Headlight
circuits for most Japanese bikes from the factory, with little or no problems.
Economy - Open Barrel Crimp Tool For 14 - 24 AWG - For Metri-pack non sealed Terminals
Made in USA - NOT recommended for 4mm Bullets and 250 AMP terminals, or any of the
seal type terminals.
I have used this and with a little practice you can get factory quality crimps with
it. This tool does the wire crimp, then the insulation seal crimp in 2 steps.
Great for Amp Multi-lock 070 terminals.
The tool is recommended for 14 - 24 AWG.

Here is a Proper Terminal crimp!!
12 AWG wire with a Thick 6mm ring terminal.
1 -Notice the insulation crimp does not pierce the wire insulation, but holds it
nicely. And there is plenty of insulation for it the grab.
2 - The conductor/wire is extended slightly past the wire crimp.
3 - The terminal is not distorted.
4 - The conductor/wire crimp has a Bell Mouth on the top edge closest to the insulator.
This means that neither the crimp tool, or the terminal cut into the wire stranding
of the conductor.
Note: You may get close, But only the Hero BL255 is capable of crimping these thick
.8mm - 6mm Ring terminals at this Quality.

Crimp tool for Open Barrel Terminals - Eclipse Brand - for 10 -20 AWG
Thumb Screw for quick changing of Dies.
Compact size, Comfort Grip Handles.
Works great for 3.5 and 4mm Bullet Terminals 187 - 250 - 312 Open barrel Terminals
It takes a bit of practice to get the .110 (2.8mm) terminals down, ratchet pressure
release will need to be adjusted. These will even work well with non sealed 090 terminals.
I would recommend extra terminals to practice with for .110 and smaller terminals.
Use the Center Die for 18 gauge wire, when using 14-18 terminals.
Note: for 090 and smaller Sealed Terminals, use crimp tool ECT47 Micro Crimper.
$32.00 each - ECT 005
Optional dies are available for closed barrel, and open barrel pin terminals.
